SUCCESS STORY: JUDY ENG

Meet Judy, one of PV’s recent graduates and currently one of our office interns. Come say “hi” to her at the front desk! Here is her story:

My name is Judy, and I was a student Project: VISION for the past 3 years since my sophomore year. I am now a PV graduate, and I am grateful for the many valuable experiences PV has provided me. As a first generation college student, my parents lacked the resources and opportunities that I now have. Although a college education does not always guarantee success, I grew up with a strong value of education, instilled in me by my parents. I made a commitment to myself and my family to succeed, and I am now furthering my education at DePaul University. PV was the first organization that introduced volunteering to me as a high school student. I value service now because valuable experiences are gained, resources are saved, and communities are strengthened. PV provided many service opportunities that are meaningful to me and are valuable to society. I learned that education together with community service are beneficial to all involved. The more service I participated in, the more conviction I felt that it is my duty to help the less fortunate than me; business school is the start that I need to accomplish this.

Not only has PV shown me the need to help our communities, but the need to also gain new experiences and skills. Building leadership skills is a huge part of youth development and with Project: LEAD, a leadership program PV offers, I was able to develop as an individual. The leadership program taught me soft skills that my high school did not directly teach me such as communicating effectively, behaving professionally, and working on a team. With the new skills I gained, I had the opportunity to become a sales and marketing intern with Constellation, an Exelon company. The internship was an experience that allowed me to utilize those skills.PV has been the most impactful organization in my life because they filled in the missing gaps and provided me the resources I need to succeed in the real world. Without Project: VISION, I would not be the individual I am today. Now that I have graduated from the program, I can clearly understand the impact that PV’s supporters and donors make. Thank you so much for making sure students like me can have the opportunity to succeed!
